It is with pleasure that we welcome Marlon Thain and Rhys Ryan to TAN as the inaugural participants of our organisation’s new intern program.
Marlon and Rhys are studying communication and journalism at university and the intern program will focus on lifting TAN’s communication, marketing and membership activities. In addition, they will assist TAN with events, presentations and various research programs.
Working with members of the TAN Board, the interns have settled in quickly and their first initiatives have been the creation of TAN’s new website and LinkedIn site. The TAN Newsletter is also another welcome program the dynamic young professionals have initiated for the benefit of our members.
Marlon and Rhys are now working on a TAN Blog and details will be announced shortly.
The TAN intern program seeks to provide practical work opportunities for students and graduates as well as valuable work experience, develop personal and professional connections that will assist them in their career and personal development.
Profile: Marlon Thain
Marlon Thain is a 22-year-old, Public Relations and Marketing student currently attending Deakin University based within Melbourne.
He is also a recipient and Scholar of the New Colombo Scholarship Program and has recently accepted the position of Brand Ambassador at The Global Student.
Furthermore, Marlon has had extensive experience working within South East Asia as a Communications Practitioner.
Recently, coming off completing an internship abroad in Malaysia at Glenreagh Sdn. Bhd. and working alongside The Crisis Management Centre, News Hub Asia, The Malaysian Global Business Forum and Fraud Watch Asia.
Additionally, in his spare time he has become a regular blood donor for the Australian Red Cross Blood Service and enjoys spending time with friends and family, participating in his passions for landscape photography, traveling the world and experiencing dynamic cultures, as well as attending major sporting and business networking events.
Profile: Rhys Ryan
Rhys Ryan is an affable and personable individual with a strong passion for sport and working with people. In the final stage of completing a Bachelor of Communication (Journalism) degree, he has strengths in writing, editing and public relations and is determined to build a successful media career.
Having had extensive work experience opportunities in the communications field both in Australia and overseas in Jordan and Malaysia, he has realised his commitment to supporting diversity and understanding new cultures.
In addition to this, Rhys has benefited greatly from an opportunity he was granted through the New Colombo Plan in Asia. He journeyed to Malaysia to be involved with Glenreagh Sdn. Bhd., a well-established public relations organisation. Through this experience, he gained and understanding and appreciation of Asian cultures which in turn has attracted him to the Thai Australia Network (TAN) and the organisation’s internship program.
Furthermore, through these opportunities abroad, Rhys has built on his global network to establish new relationships with football players as well as members of coaching, administration, and senior/executive leadership. This has allowed him to develop a broad understanding and appreciation for all aspects of the football world.
Rhys has a drive to make an impact in the world of media by connecting Australia with the rest of the world. He is excited by the opportunity to be involved with the TAN as an inaugural participant in the internship program.
