Barry Novy is a practicing estate agent and Executive Chairman of Gross Waddell ICR.
With 45 years of real estate experience, he continues to enjoy the challenges and rewards of commercial and residential agency, including sales, leasing, management and special consultancy to specific and often complex objectives.
Barry built his reputation as a commercial estate agent in Melbourne after joining the family business, S. Kliger & Co, as General Manager in 1975 and ultimately as Managing Director.
Barry joined Gross Waddell ICR as Executive Chairman in March 2020. A fellow of the Real Estate Institute of Victoria and the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Barry achieved his BA at the University of Chicago and MBA at the Kellogg School of Business. He studied accountancy at the University of Illinois practiced at the Chicago headquarters of Arthur Andersen, and had academic appointments at University of Illinois, University of Melbourne and Monash University.
A committed philanthropist, Barry has a longstanding relationship with The Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH), Melbourne . He is the current Chair of the RCH1000 Research Philanthropy network, and has previously served as an RCH Board member (8 years) Chairman of the RCH Foundation (9 years), Bioethics Centre Development Board (10 years), and Centre for Hormone Research (7 years).
President of YMCA’s Victoria Father’s Day Council, Barry was named Victorian Father of the Year in 2002 and awarded a Medal in the Order of Australia in 2010 .
